Zucchini pasta salad

Ohh the deliciousness of pasta, I could eat it all day, every day.  I'm surprised I have zero Italian in me...   Anyways, pasta salad is one of my all time favorite meals!  Unfortunately, (like everything that tasts amazing) it's not all that good for you *sigh*... So, in an effort to cut back on carbs we've started replacing all our regular noodles with homemade veggie noodles!  And since they are the shape of noodles, I think it tricks my mind into thinking they are just as delicious as regular noodles.  But really, they are pretty dang good.  So, here is a recipe for simple pasta salad using zucchini as the noodles.  I highly recommend getting a spiralizer, the one I have I found at our local grocery store for about $14.00 and it works great!

Serves: 1

Ingredients:
- half a zucchini
- 1Tbs black olives
- 1Tbs green olives
- 1Tbs sliced or cubed pepperonis
- 2Tbs mozzarella cheese (cubed or shredded)
- Italian dressing to taste

Step 1: buy yourself a spiralizer

Step two, spiralize your zucchini (or any other veggie you want to use!)

Step three: slice up olives, cheese & pepperoni

Step four: place all ingredients in a bowl and pour desired amount of Italian dressing over everything.  Stir & enjoy!

It's Summer Time!

It's finally summer time!!  We hope you all are enjoying the heat, cooling off by the pool & BBQing, cause we sure are!  When it comes to summer fashion I'm all for beachy vibes and boho looks. Which is why this crop top (BTW, we will have a post on how to wear crop tops while looking classy & not trashy, so stay tuned!) & high waisted skirt is one of my new favorite combos for the summer, it's so light and airy while still feminine.  Since it's almost always in the 90's here this is the perfect outfit for staying cool while still looking cute!

Oh and P.S.
I used this hair tutorial from TIU for my beach inspired waves.  It's such an easy tutorial to follow and I loved the results, let us know if you try it out and how you like it!

DIY Braided Beach Wave Ponytail

Happy weekend everyone!  Today I'm going to show you how to do one of my new favorite go-to hairstyles.  It's cute, quick & most importantly, easy!

Tools needed:
-hair brush
-curling iron
-hairspray
-hair band
-smoothing cream (optional)

Step 1: finish morning coffee(!)

Step 2: brush hair till smooth, I like to use this smoothing cream for this step.

Step 3: using a comb or finger, trace a line from the middle of your eyebrow (either side) up to your hair to create a part on the side of your head:

Step 4: (this step is optional, you can just pull your hair into a ponytail and start curling if you want to skip the braid) braid hair into Dutch braid (or any preferred braid!)  starting from the part line at the top of your forehead down to the back of your neck.  Tie off braid and the rest of your hair into a low ponytail, "fatten" the braid by slightly pulling on the sides of it starting at the bottom and working your way up.

Step 5: with a hot curling iron take a section of hair about 2in. thick and wrap it around the iron.  I usually wrap under but it will work either way.  Hold for a few seconds and then release.  The trick here is to work with bigger sections of hair to achieve lose waves, if you want tighter or more curly hair just take smaller sections from the ponytail. Continue curling till you get through the whole ponytail.

Step 6: spray hair with hairspray.  That's it!  I usually go back and re-pull my hair into the ponytail again after curling because I tend to pull it out a little as I curl, I also "re-fatten" the braid for a bit until I get the desired volume.

So there you go, a simple, cute & effortless hairstyle perfect for everyday wear!  Oh and bonus, it looks great the next day as well!

Frizzy hair, I do care

Living in Houston is like being in a constant sauna.  It could be 77 degrees outside but it feels like 100 just from all of the humidity.  You check the weather before you leave the house, it's in the mid-high 70's, you think it's gonna be a pretty nice day, and then you walk outside... It feels like the air is choking you!  But, even with all that loveliness I'll take the heat & humidity over the cold any day.  Yes, the cold does bother me anyway, haha.  What is the worst part though is my hairs reaction, it frizzes up to a messy and unattractive mess.  This is why I can't cut my hair too short (and why it's almost always in a bun!) cause it'll start to look like an afro on these particularly humid days.  First world problems, am I right?

Got any tips for keeping humidity at bay or for frizzy hair?  We'd love to hear them, just comment below!  Happy weekend all!

Loving Him was Red

I absolutely love bold colours.  Although I love how classic and clean the combo of black and white is, I just prefer to have some colour thrown into the mix as well.  Any colour can be paired with black and white.  I personally have always loved red.  It's the color of energy and passion, and if you know me well you know that I am always energetic and always passionate about whatever I am doing.  When in doubt, wear red.  Always wear red.
Also, there will be more office/work related outfits now that I can branch out from the 6 skirts I own and had to utilize during Lent.  I hope everyone has a great Friday - happy weekend!

Easter Wishes

Easter has finally come!  Our Lord is risen and the time of suffering and sorrow is over, hallelujah!  We celebrated the day by attending Easter mass, hunting for eggs & baskets (while wearing pants!  If you weren't aware we had decided to wear only dresses & skirts for lent) and eating waaay too much good food & candy!  After fasting for 40 days overeating is pretty easy to do, we will now be eating candy for breakfast, lunch & dinner for the next month or so.. Nothing unhealthy about that, right?  We hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Easter!
